Please note that your personal information will be stored and processed on our computers in the United States. The laws on holding personal data in the United States may be less stringent than the laws of your country but GHATS will hold and transmit your personal information in a safe, confidential and secure environment. If you object to your personal information being transferred or used as described in this Privacy Policy, please do not become a member of The Greater Houston Athletic Trainers Society (GHATS).

GHATS and other pages on the GHATS Web site include links to third party Web sites. These sites are governed by their own privacy statements, and GHATS is not responsible for their operations, including but not limited to their information practices. Users submitting information to or through these third party Web sites should review the privacy statement of these sites before providing them with personally identifiable information.

Notification of Changes

This policy may be revised over time as new features are added to the GHATS service or as we incorporate suggestions from our members. If we are going to use or disclose your personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time we collected the information, you will have a choice as to whether or not we use or disclose your information in this new manner. Any material changes will be effective only after we post said changes on the www.ghats.org website with at least 30 days' notice of the amended Privacy Policy (if you have canceled your GHATS membership, you will not be contacted to notify you of the amended Policy and your personal information will not be used or disclosed in this new manner). Information We Collect

Becoming a member of GHATS requires that we collect personal information. You will be asked to provide your name, home address, home phone number, employer, employer address, work phone number, work fax number, and personal or work e-mail address. This information is necessary for billing of membership dues and production of our print member directory.

GHATS values the privacy of our members’ personal information. Due to this we will not sell any personal information to any person, corporation, or not-for-profit company. The personal information that GHATS collects will be stored on computers within the United States. The security of this information is paramount to GHATS. We will use any methods within our abilities to ensure the privacy of this information. This information is collected to provide the utmost service to our members, to improve our services and benefits to our members, and to provide methods of contact from member to member. You may, at anytime choose to prevent any or all of your information from being disseminated to any or all parties.

Our Contacts with GHATS Members

Personal information collected by GHATS may be provided to other bona fide members of the Society, as defined in Article 3§1 of the GHATS Constitution (available on-line at www.ghats.org), and corporate partners of GHATS. Personal information will only be made available by direct mail out of printed materials or password protected Internet accessible files to those individuals described above. The passwords for Internet accessible files will be disseminated utilizing our double opt-in discussion group membership or printed newsletter mail out. Passwords to access on-line documents will not be posted on the Internet for “all to view.”

Your Use of GHATS Info and Services

By entering into our User Agreement, you (GHATS Members and Corporate Partners) agree that, with respect to other users' personally identifiable information that you obtain through the site or through an GHATS-related communication or GHATS-facilitated transaction, you will only use this information for: (a) GHATS-related communications that are not unsolicited commercial messages, (b) using services offered through GHATS, and (c) any other purpose that such user expressly agrees to after adequate disclosure of the purpose(s).

In all cases, you must provide users with the opportunity to remove themselves from your database and review any information you have collected about them. In addition, under no circumstances, except as defined in this Section, can you disclose personally identifiable information about another GHATS user to any third party without our consent and the consent of such other user after adequate disclosure. Note that law enforcement personnel and other rights holders are given different rights with respect to information they access.
